Flavio Virzì– originally from Palermo – is an Italian guitarist and poly-instrumentalist performing a wide range of music styles. As a soloist or as a member of different ensembles has been invited to perform in many festivals, among them Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele (D), Il suono dei Soli (IT), Milano Musica (IT), Euro Microfest (D), Highscore new music Festival (IT), Festival Aperto (IT), Festival Archipel (CH), MITO (IT). He has been invited to perform with Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble ICTUS, Frankfurt Oper, Staatsoper Hamburg, Basel Sinfonietta, Vortex Ensemble, Staatsoper Hamburg, Divertimento ensemble, Accademia Teatro alla Scala, Mdi ensemble, We spoke new music company and his recordings are published by Stradivarius, Wergo, Limit cycle records.
Flavio graduated in classical guitar at Conservatorio “V. Bellini” in Palermo, he obtained the Diplôme Superieur d’éxecution at école normale de musique “A.Cortot” in Paris (class of Alberto Ponce) and two Master degrees at Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel (Master-Performance guitar and Master specialized in contemporary music performance).
